Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is a powerful tool to aid physicians in patient evaluation and treatment.  Virtually all medical specialties can benefit by using this technology.  POCUS is now a required component of Emergency Medicine and Paramedic training, it is expanding into many other branches of medicine. POCUS is now one of the essential physical exam skills for physicians in the “Stanford 25”.  Small, accurate and inexpensive ultrasound devices are now available and can give you valuable information in your decision making.  If you perform procedures such as injections and aspirations, POCUS can accurately guide your needle avoiding complications and guaranteeing precise delivery of therapy. In some cases there is reimbursement for its use.
